Community Bike Park
The safety fences are up the track and health and safety plans have been approved and the machinery is sitting ready for action. Unfortunately the rain is continuing to hold up the progress of this wonderful community initiative.
The community support for this project has been overwhelming with a number of local businesses and volunteers already committing their time and resources to make this project happen. A massive thank you must go out to:
Doug Rennie and the Mountain Bike Club – Supporting the original proposal to council and the planning and management of the construction of the pump tracks.
Glen Bullock / Bullocks and Justin Loader /Loaders – Health and safety and track planning. Providing machinery and expertise required for the creation of the pump tracks.
Wanganui Hot Rod Club – For suppling the safety fencing for the park.
4 Our Kids – Funding for the creation of tables and obstacles.
Tristan Teki, Harrisons Hire Master and the Wanganui Fire Service -
– For organising and supporting the installation of the safety fencing
Andrew Horrocks – For suppling the dirt to create the pump tracks
Shane Stone Builders – Installation of the Park fencing
Whanganui District Council – Materials required for the fencing of the park.
We are truly blessed to have such amazing and supportive people in our community. Without them this project would simply not be possible. Let’s just hope the rain stays away long enough to dry out the pit where the dirt is being transported from so that the Park can finally begin to take shape.
If you would like to know more about this project or would like to support it in some way shape or form then you can contact:
Doug Rennie @ The Bike Shed or Jodie Brunger @ Sport Whanganui.
